I guess this is the best time for this! Well, entering NS soon so I believe its time I start to quit gaming for good. As in reduce the amount I play. Like once in a Full Moon, not blue moon, cos its kinda' impossible to not play at all haha! So its best to go "cold turkey" in camp. Since I'd be occupied anyways, it also means no chance to find any girl, tough luck haha.

Pretty happy nowadays, mainly because nothing's holding me back from doing anything.(Unpleasant stuff is besides the point of course!)But its kinda' boring these days. Not into working now, games sucks nowadays and with my leg treatment now, I can't freaking go and exercise. I need to train my stamina man! Haha. Oh yeah, I've got a tummy~ OMG, fats...

About Prom: Whoa, that was some night I had. The girls looked...gorgeous! Some I don't even recognise! Some looked really good with make-up and stuff. But of course in all situations when the sample size is large, there are always anomalies. But overall, the girls really did a great job I think.

As for me, I got knocked out again by a 5% Barcadi. I'm the worst drinker there is haha. My whole body turned red! Throbbing head and now having bit of rashes on my thighs...geez. Haha, don't ask me to go to a pub. I'd have a coke instead.

Today's trip to Biopolis for a talk by A*Star was not quite fruitful. Furthermore, it made me now rather depressed. Even more so, I'm now back to square-one; Pondering over my A levels results and the unknown future...

My dream is to be a researcher, versatile in several aspects of Biology, if not, Physics. Coupled with that, I hope to deal with philosophy too. But it doesn't seem like I'll be able to obtain my dream set of results. I don't really think my full potential has been unleashed during the A levels. Its so...disappointing thinking about it...more so depressing...

So how did these thoughts came about? Well, its firstly during the talk when they keep introducing and highlighting scholars and the Universities they went to. I really felt out of place...so what if I have a passion for Science and Life Sciences and Physics when I can't even think about getting the grades needed to stand out? Right, ok I don't have to stand out above the rest, but I at least have to obtain a good set of results in order to be a mark above the rest, if not, there's no place for me in the field of Science. I'm wondering if I'd one day be swept aside and end up reading up Science articles, issues regarding Science, reading up research achievements by others and not being able to invent, create and research. This is so depressing...when you know what you like finally, yet having the feeling that you're far away from it.

The Sciences are the only passion in my life. I'm not an avid gamer, neither am I a collector of rare items. I'm also not a sports person and I'm definitely not an Arts type. Music is out of the question and buisness is not really my cup of tea. But come to Science and inventions, my mind keeps flooding with ideas. I'm really happy about it, but I just need that chance...that one precious chance for me to enter the world of research in Life Sciences or Physics.

Only God can help me now.

A levels...haha its long over. Almost a week now since the last paper. Compared to my previous entry, this time I don't have much complains or maybe, not at all. I tried my best, put in my all for these 2 years so I'd prefer not to regret anything. Afterall, its the experiences that are more important to me.

Well, next up is Prom-night. Right now probably everyone is shopping for their clothes, dying their hair and stuff, as for me, I've got my stuff prepared, but hair-wise, not really. I'm kinda' off the trend kind of person; bad with fashion, lacking the sense of it. Haha.

Best part of this preparation for Prom I guess is the exclusion of the need to have a Prom date. If I had to find a date, I'd probably screw up 30 over times before I can find one. Moreover, the one found would probably be the one I'd least likely want to ask out, or maybe, not at all. LoL. So you see, I'm really bad at such things and its lady-luck on my side that such things are unneccessary.

I wonder...is this holiday? I'm really bored. Games don't interest me much, working eats up my precious free time, surfing the net is the same as counting the grass blades downstairs and shopping...no $$$. Man, I need a change, this won't freaking do. I don't want to end up like that in the future so...time to look for talks and seminars first! A scientist-wannabe has to first know lots about general issues! I'm not crazy, I'm bored! Haha, ok time to head to sch to return Mr Wee's TIME magazines~

Its a terrible day...I'm struggling...to get the facts into my head...

Last week was horrible, I went in and out of the feverish feeling for one full week...cold and cough then set in...maybe it isn't the best reason to give, but thats really the reason why I couldn't complete anything last week which I ought to have done so...

GP, I bet I screwed it up this time round. I wasn't prepared. Bad things come fast and hard against me now...and I certainly feel very stressed out. I wonder now, how am I going to finish my Biology. Seriously now, I don't expect to do well for the Prelims. Problematic...

Something useful I found on the net, when I couldn't solve a 3-D Trigo Question.

For your info, arcsine[f(x)] simply means the sine inverse of the function f(x)

AND ONE MORE THING, I didn't do all of this, its cut and paste...I'm just putting it up coz its useful...

The way to find the angle between these two adjacent triangular faces is to think of the common edge of these triangles as their bases and to construct two line segments, perpendicular to this edge, corresponding to their altitudes. The angle that these line segments make when joined together is the same as the angle between the faces, which is 2A. This is illustrated below (the first picture shows the triangular faces separate, the second shows them assembled into the pyramid).

            ^ ^ -------*
           / \ / \ / \ *|
          / \ / \ / \ * |
         / \ / \ / \ * |
        / * * \ / * |
       / * \ / * \ / * \ |
      / * \ / * \ / * \ |
     / * \ / * \ / * \|
    *--------------- ---------------* *---------------

Now we need to compute the angle at which these two line segments meet. To do this we need two things: (a) their length (they are of equal length), and (b) the length of the third side of the triangle formed by these two line segments.

Let's find length (b) first. The third side (running from the end of the second line segment back to the start of the first) is a diagonal of the base of the pyramid. Since the base of the pyramid is a square, whose sides are the bases of the triangles, the length of this diagonal is sqrt(2) b where b denotes the base length of each triangle.

Length (a) be computed by finding the area of a face of the pyramid in two ways. One way is to use the standard base and height measurements (thinking of the bottom edge as the base). The area is 1/2 bh, where h is the height and b the length of the base.

The other way is to think of one of the slanted edges of the triangle as the "base", with our unknown line segment length being the "height". The length of the edge can be computed, using the Pythagorean theorem, to be sqrt(h^2 + b^2/4). If we let l denote the length of our unknown side, we can see that the area is 1/2 l sqrt(h^2 + b^2/4). Since we also know that the area is 1/2 bh, we can equate these two values and solve for l, which gives l = 2bh/sqrt(b^2 + 4h^2).

We now know that our two line segments, which meet at an angle of measure 2A, have length l = 2bh/sqrt(b^2 + 4h^2) and form two sides of a triangle whose third length is sqrt(2) b. As illustrated below, that means the angle A is part of a right-angled triangle whose hypotenuse has length l = 2bh/sqrt(b^2 + 4h^2) and whose opposite side has length sqrt(2)b/2.

                   _
              /|\ |\
             /A|A\ l = 2bh/sqrt(b^2+4h^2)
            / | \ \
           / | \ \
          / | \ \
         / | \ \|
         ------+------ -
         <----------->
            sqrt(2) b

                <---->
               sqrt(2)b/2

Thus the angle A is given by arcsin(sqrt(2) b/(2l)) = arcsin(sqrt(8h^2 + 2b^2)/4h). Plugging in our values of h = 46 and b = 30.5 we find that A is approximately 48.155 degrees.
